What the Night Is For
The dark gives you nothing.

The dark makes nothing. It has no power, no wisdom, no gifts. It is not a teacher and it is not a force. Darkness is light turned low. Whatever you found in your darkest hour, the dark did not give it to you.

But something happens in the night that does not happen at noon.

In the day a person can coast. Comfort is loud. Distraction is loud. The pull toward the Highest Good never stops, but it is quiet, and the day drowns it. The night takes the noise away. What people call the wisdom of the dark is not the dark speaking. It is the source, audible at last, because everything else went silent.

The stars burn at full strength all day. You cannot see them. The night does not make the stars. The night makes them visible. That is what the dark does. It produces nothing. It reveals.

The moon has no light of its own. Every night it shines, it shines with the sun's light, reflected. It is a mirror hung in the dark, and it has hung there over every night anyone has ever lived through. Whoever looks up at it, in whatever century, in whatever darkness, is looking at proof that the sun did not go anywhere.

Some nights it is full. Some nights it is a sliver. Some nights it seems gone. The moon never changes. Half of it is lit at full strength every hour of every day. What changes is how much of the lit face is turned toward you. There is no dark side of the moon. There is only a side turning. Darkness on the moon is never a place. It is always a phase. A full moon is not a brighter moon. It is a mirror at the right angle.

This is what a person becomes who holds their orientation in the night. Not a source. Never a source. A surface at the right angle. Somewhere, someone is in a darkness deeper than yours, and the light that reaches them may arrive off the surface of your life, from a sun they cannot see.

A seed begins underground, in complete darkness, and grows toward a light it has never seen. It does not learn the sun by experiencing the sun. The pull is at work before there is any evidence. The dark did not do that. The source reaches into places the light does not visibly go. Nowhere is outside the pull.

The darkest hour is not where the Highest Good favors you with its deepest work. It is where you stop being able to pretend you were not being pulled. Hold your angle there and you become the proof for someone else.

The dark gives you nothing. It takes away everything that let you ignore what you were given.

Stay oriented.
